Brewer's grains have many uses after drying, mainly including the following aspects:

Livestock and poultry feed: Dried brewer's grains are rich in nutrients such as protein, cellulose, minerals, etc., and are a high-quality protein source and energy source in livestock and poultry feed. After proper mixing and processing, they can be made into high-quality feed to improve the production performance and immunity of livestock and poultry.

Organic fertilizer: Dried brewer's grains can be directly used as organic fertilizer to provide plants with nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and other nutrients, which helps to improve soil structure and increase soil fertility.

Biofuel: Dried brewer's grains can be used for the production of biomass energy. After mixing it with other biomass materials, efficient and clean biofuels such as biomass hot water and biogas can be produced through compression molding or pyrolysis.

Other uses: Dried brewer's grains can also be used as food additives, pharmaceutical intermediates, etc. For example, in some beverages and cakes, brewer's grains can be used as natural flavors and pigments to give the product a unique flavor and taste.

How to dry brewer's grains?

The method of drying brewer's grains mainly depends on the original moisture content of the brewer's grains. The following are two common drying methods:

Dehydration + drying:

Applicable situations: When the original moisture content of the lees is greater than 60%, it is more practical to use the dehydration + drying method.

Steps: First use a dehydrator to reduce part of the moisture content of the lees, and then dry it. This can reduce the drying time, reduce the operating load and cost of the dryer.

Direct drying:

Applicable situations: When the original moisture content of the lees is less than 60%, the dryer can be used directly for drying.

Equipment: Commonly used drying equipment includes lees dryers, which are generally composed of lees dehydrators, heat source equipment, feeders, conveyors, drum dryers, dust collectors, power distribution cabinets, etc.

Process principle: After the wet lees are partially dehydrated by the lees dehydrator, they are transported to the drum dryer by a conveyor. Under the evenly distributed scraper in the cylinder, the lees are fully in contact with high-temperature hot air or low-temperature steam, and the lees are quickly dried to a moisture content of about 12% (adjustable). There is a built-in dispersing and cleaning device to solve the problems of lees sticking to the wall, paste, uneven dryness and wetness.

In summary, the dried lees have multiple uses, and the choice of drying method should be determined according to the original moisture content of the lees. Through reasonable drying treatment, the potential value of lees can be fully utilized and resources can be effectively utilized.
