1. Crushing treatment

Use a tree crusher or grinder to crush the raw materials to ensure that the sawdust particles are uniform in size. This step is the basis of pelletizing and has an important impact on the subsequent molding effect.

2. Drying treatment

Dry the wet sawdust. The temperature and time should be controlled during the drying process to avoid over-drying or under-drying. Generally speaking, the moisture content of the sawdust after drying should be reduced to about 8% to 12%, or even lower to about 10% to meet the pelletizing requirements.

3. Pellet molding

The dried sawdust is fed into a pellet machine (also called a pellet press or pellet granulator). The pellet machine presses the sawdust into pellets through high pressure and heat. In this process, the lignin in the sawdust acts as a binder, allowing the sawdust pellets to be naturally formed. Pellet machines from different manufacturers and equipment models may differ in specific operating methods and effects.

4. Cooling and screening

After pellets are formed, the wood pellets are cooled by the cooling process. Then they are screened to remove oversized or undersized particles to ensure the specifications and quality of the pellets.

5. Packaging and storage

The biomass pellets that meet the requirements are packaged. Commonly used packaging materials include plastic film, etc. The packaged wood pellets should be stored in a dry and ventilated place to avoid moisture and mildew.
